Stepho's Souvlaki Greek Taverna on Davie Street brings a familiar, lively atmosphere that longtime Vancouver locals have appreciated for years. As a full-service Greek restaurant, it serves up generously portioned plates that lean traditional—think moist chicken souvlaki, tender lamb, and classic sides like tzatziki with warm pita, Greek salad, and saganaki cheese. The menu balances variety from small spreads like humous and eggplant puree to heartier dinners featuring lamb roast and calamari, catering well to both casual dining and group meals.

Inside, the vibe feels comfortably bustling yet approachable, a spot where servers maintain an attentive rhythm without feeling rushed—regulars mention how glasses get refilled promptly and recommendations come with a genuine touch. It’s easy to settle in here for lunch or dinner, especially with groups, as advance reservations are welcomed and staff work to keep the flow smooth even when things get busy.

The interior has a warm, familiar charm underscored by Greek-inspired decor that matches the food’s straightforward authenticity. This isn’t a place for trends or experimental fusion but rather a steady, reliably tasty option where fans of classic Greek flavors gather. The steady stream of both longtime patrons and newcomers suggests it fits well as a go-to neighborhood spot for those craving hearty Mediterranean fare without fuss.

Lunch visits tend to showcase the pita souvlaki and mix-and-match of spreads and salads, while evenings lend themselves to more indulgent entrees like the roast lamb or spicy steamed mussels. Prices have edged up over time, a reflection of the neighborhood’s evolving dining scene, yet it remains reasonably accessible for full-plate meals in a sit-down setting. The presence of traditional desserts such as bakalva and ekmek custard adds a sweet finish that’s appreciated by those lingering over conversation.

Stepho’s is best suited for diners who enjoy familiar, well-executed Greek dishes in a lively yet unpretentious environment. It’s ideal for families, groups of friends, or anyone wanting a steady taste of the Mediterranean with the added comfort of attentive service. Visiting on a weekday evening or weekend lunch will likely offer the most relaxed experience, but with consistent service and friendly staff, the restaurant maintains a welcoming feel even during its busiest moments.

Quite a beautiful restaurant of Greek food. The food arrived quite quickly . I was pleased. The waitress kept filling up my glass with water and ice. I ordered the lamb souvlaki with a Greek yogurt salad as an appetizer. I enjoy coming here often.

Stepho's is a Vancouver institution! Many of my friends, who grew up in Vancouver, have fond memories of dining here. I was excited to experience it for myself. We made reservations a day in advance for our large group, and Gabriela, our server, was friendly and attentive. Her recommendations were spot on! As the legendary chef, Thomas Keller, once said, "It's not just about the food; it's about the experience." Stepho's truly delivers on both counts! Will definitely be back!"

Fun Greek inspired atmosphere. It’s been around for a long time. The food is yummy and the prices for a sit in Greek place is still affordable. The prices have gone up over the years, which is expected with inflation. We came in for lunch and had a mix of pitas and souvlakis. The chicken was moist and tender, and the lamb was excellent. The Roast Lamb is also highly recommended. Service was really good as well.

Great food served by amazing people. I am a nurse and was on a double shift, I ordered skip and kept getting a message that the restaurant was busy and had a lot on their plate. After about an hour I called the restaurant and they said my food has been ready and nobody picked it up. I called skip and they said they would work on it. I cancelled my order ans said I would pick it up. In cancelling my order it cancelled payment to the restaurant. I called the restaurant and they said they would make me fresh food for my pick up. I don’t like to waste food and so I said it was fine. Upon arrival the staff apologized when they didn’t have to ( as they did nothing wrong) and didn’t even charge me. As much as I wanted to pay for their wonderful food and service, they refused to let me pay. THIS IS WHAT YOU CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE! . I was losing faith in the food service industry. Thank you Stepho’s from the cooks to the servers. You all deserve a gold star⭐. May you continue to serve the community for many many years to come! Cheers!

We used to be regulars at another neighbourhood Greek restaurant, however, a new server who not only insisted that the appetizer wasn’t served with a small thimble of tzaziki, but also claimed that the pita that we always used to get with the meal was no longer included, so we walked down the street to try the competition. Wow! The spanakopita dinner comes with two large triangles of spanakopita, whereas the other place offered one smaller square. That made the Stephos meal a much better value, and we will not order an appetizer order as well next time. We found the serving of rice and potatoes, much more generous, and the flavours delicious and authentic. They were generous with the olive garnish, and the side of Greek salad was enough to take half home. Our server was delightful: supermodel gorgeous, friendly, and engaging. Water glasses were topped up, and the house red that I was served a great value. Although before Covid, this place was lined up with students looking for the lamb special, it’s nice to see they’re still doing a brisk business, even if it’s not lined up out the door anymore. After enjoying our meal, we walked past the other place, and there was not a soul inside. I suspect that any locals who frequented it before no longer bother.

Loved our experience at Stepho’s! Cozy, homely vibe with generous portions and delicious food. The tzatziki, lasagna and fluffy pita were standout. Friendly service and a sweet touch with mouth fresheners at the end. Quite surprised by the low ratings, we had a great time!
